Most Recent Airport Card Upgrade Possible
Hi Everyone,
I need to replace the airport card in my mid 2012 retina 15” MacBook Pro. I remember reading a few years ago that installing a more recent airport card in this model enables it to upgrade to a slightly more recent version of iOS than normally possible.
To clarify, I don’t mean installing the most recent equivalent of an airport card allows you to install the very latest iOS. It was something like installing a 2014 card allowed you to install the 2018 version of iOS…something like that…
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I figured if I’m going to do this, might as well push my system farther.
Thanks in advance,
-David

@diyadventure - Just so we are clear here you want to upgrade your macOS not iOS. The highest macOS Apple supported in this series is Catalina. But you can go higher! Using a shim service like OpenCore.
But you might encounter some issues if your system only offers 8GB of RAM and the size of your SSD may also effect what you can run.
