Repairing iPhone 12 NAND - orientation?

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all doing well. I was looking at repairing an iphone 12 from my mate, which he dropped and says doesnt power on. The NAND has been removed already by some other repair shop and the pads appear intact. My question is: How do i orient this thing? No one on the internet seems to have mentioned anything about it and google is the most useless little thing to find this.

I would love to see if anyone on this platform could help me with this.

Additionally, if i were to replace the NAND, do i need to reprogram the NAND or if i buy a clean nand chip, can i just solder it on and use something like 3Utools to revive/reprogram the phone.

Finally, after I fix the phone (kind of going on from the previous point), do i need to do any funky stuff apart from using 3Utools and reprogramming the phone.

Would love some help in the near future. Thanks in advance!

Nick P

Edit: This is after having done some research online where everyone says that "REWAtech" state you dont have to program the NANDs, but i just assume that's for their chips. Could someone perhaps let me know so that i know which chips i should buy?

3utool only restores the ios, it doesnt restore the rest of the data. you would probably need a nand programmer and a gsx report

Make sure the dot is positioned as in image. If it is the original NAND it will not need programming.
