Is it the speakers or the logic board?

I have a MacBook with good audio from headphones but not from the internal speakers. Apple says it's a logic board problem. I think the audio jack may be broken. Bluetooth sound works and headphones work OK.

Is there a way to bypass the audio jack on the board so I can see if the speakers are good, before I replace or repair the logic board?

There's no sound at all from the speakers, so changing balance does no good..

I suspect that the reed switch in the audio port is stuck, preventing any signals from reaching the speakers.

My question is: is there any way to test the speakers by shorting the audio connector to be sure the speakers are OK? I'd hate to have the logic boars sent out to get the audio port replaced only to find that the speakers are no good.

The likely hood is either a wiring issue from the analog side of the Cirrus Logic CS42L84A Audio Codec chip or the speaker. As you are stating the plugged in headphones are not encountering an issue that removes the connection path to the Jack. That then focuses us to the speaker path or the speakers them selves.

Using the balance control in the sound control panel are you able to hear a difference between the speakers by biasing one over the other or do both sound off?

I would also check for possible liquid damage around the speaker connections.

Apple won’t try fixing the logic board which might be a simple fix.

@vinconiglione - OK, no sound from speakers does aim us to the jack. That’s an easy fix to replace MacBook Pro 14" (A2442, A2779, A2918, A2992) and 16" (A2485, A2780, A2991) Headphone Jack

If the headphones are working OK then maybe the 'switch' inside the jack port has become 'stuck' and if it is not that then it can be possible there is a board issue with the audio lines. Have a look in the audio settings do you see the internal speakers built-in option? It is unlikely that both the internal speakers have simultaneously failed.
