What is the thread diameter of the dc-in board screws?

I had to replace the DC-in magsafe board and managed to strip the screw heads of the two T6 Torx 8mm screws.

In my current location i cannot find any replacement screws or they're not worth the price.

I'm gonna buy some OEM screws and need to know what to buy.

Are these screws M1 , M1.2 , M1.4 , M2 ? Bigger ? Smaller ?

Does anyone know exactly what is the thread diameter of the DC-in board screws?

Parts for this older series is starting to get harder, given the task of either finding a junker to steal the needed screws or just finding a source like The Book Yard getting them is just easier. The screws aren’t listed as you can see here Screws and Fittings so you’ll need to reach out to them to see if they have them, I would start there.

As for the screws them selves Two JIS 8 mm T6 Torx screws, which are listed in Step 21 in this guide MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2011 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement

Apple at one point stocked their AASP with loose screws when this system was released. You might find an older shop which is or was an AASP still has the screws hidden away locally. The cash handshake does wonders!

Don't mean to be rude, but can you tell me the thread diameter in millimeters or not?

@kinc74 - it’s all metric! But the thread pitch is based on the Japanese Industry Standards (JIS). If you grab one of the other T6 screws just measure them if you are trying to find the needed tap. Or just buy a JIS metric set.

I would measure them but I don't have an electronic ruler to do that. I can't use a regular ruler. They seem to be M2 screws but I can't be sure, maybe they're M1.6.

@kinc74 - A standard caliper ruler will suffice. The OD of the shaft is what’s defined.

But the thread pitch is where things get you as European Metric screws have two different thread options fine and course, and of course Japan would do something still different!

Are we going too deep here? Just fire off an email to TheBookYard folks see if they have the screws if they do just order them it’s well worth it! But if the holes are messed up then you have a deeper issue.

I get what you're saying. Thanks for clarifying I was about to buy random lookalike screws from Aliexpress. I'll search locally somewhere for original ones, thanks for the help.
