Touchscreen's left edge does not work
As the title suggests, left edge doesn't work top to bottom. For example you can't type q while using the keyboard.
I took the thing apart and found out that there were some corrosion-y stuff on the display flex cable thing right under a small black sticker. I peeled it off, revealing 4 solder pads and cleaned out the gunk - still the same, no improvement. At least it didn't go out completely!
Can I salvage this display in any way? I really want to keep this device original.
Edit: Left edge DOES work sometimes but only for a shortwhile. The screen will go unresponsive for a second and then the fault area won't respond to touch again.
EDIT: I should add that I'm the second owner of this device and thus I don't know the precise history of it. IOS shows no service history but it might have been dropped (scuff marks on case.)
EDIT: Pictures of what I found:
I tried to clean the pads and the result:
Last image is how it's supposed to look like according to iFixit.
Bu iyi bir soru mu?
The corrosion on the display flex cable area suggests possible liquid damage or oxidation, which might be affecting the touch signals.
