Over the years battery technology has improved! The iPad Pro 11" (2018) Battery is not as powerful as the iPad Pro 11" (2021, 2022) Battery. So while the batteries do look similar iFixit Store does treat them as different batteries. Also note the 3rd gen battery is a few dollars cheaper!

I would stick with the correct battery.
