Trackpad issues 2012 15" MacBook Pro

I recently picked up a very cheap 2012 MBP 15" it has worked flawlessly except for the trackpad. When trying to click on something it often takes more than one try to get it to work. Everything that I looked up pointed to the adjustment screw. Opened it up and the screw is stripped and won't budge. I have 2 13" unibody MBP's lying around collecting dust. one is a 2012 and the other is a 2009. If I were to break the trackpad trying to get the screw out would I be able to use one, preferably the 2009, from the others to replace it?

I would take the trackpad out so you can finish screwing the adjustment screw through to the other side. You should then be able to thread in a replacement. You may need to use some solvent to break the seal if someone glued it, you may need some heat to heat up the case and screw, making sure nothing melts nearby.
