Why won't it charge anymore?

My friend's phone has had it for 5 years and suddenly it won't charge. I cleaned the port with toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol and nothing. Before I did it though, I did try to charge it on 2 different chargers, a 45w and 65w, and on the 2nd it turned on from being dead and was charging for around 10 seconds before it turned off. Now, it won't display anything, only the white led on top.

Hi @henryares,

Best I can find online is that the phone is designed to be charged using chargers up to 33W only.

Hopefully you haven't damaged the battery management circuit in the phone by using a 65W or even the 45W charger. You should be able to use these as normally the battery will only draw as much current as it needs to, but given that Xiaomi is being specific about it being "up to 33W" I don't know.

Perhaps check that the main flex cable between the charge port board and the mainboard is securely connected at both ends.

If it is then you could try replacing the charge port board and see if that fixed the problem.

Here's a video that shows how to replace the charge port board that may help. It will also allow you to check if the main flex cable connections are secure as well

If you decide to replace the charge port board, search online for Poco X3 charge port board, to find suppliers that suit you best.

In the Poco X3, X3 NFC, and X3 Pro, there’s a plug-type socket that can sometimes come loose or even detach. Fixing it is pretty simple—once you remove the back casing, the job becomes much easier. All you’ll need is a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the cover above the battery. Then, check the wide ribbon cable running over the battery to see if it’s loose. If it is, secure it—and you can thank me later.
