Apple's fourth-generation smartwatch, with optional cellular connectivity, released September 21, 2018.

Changed battery, now dead screen

After replacing the battery itself, I was pleased that it powered up normally. However when fiddling with applying the gasket and adhesive the screen died. First had vertical white lines, and now it doesn't work at all. It is on because I can feel the haptics but nothing on the screen. Tried hard reset. So disappointed.

Block Image

Posted picture of ribbon cable. I didn’t detach it to replace the battery. I thought I was gentle but wonder if I put too much pressure on it somewhere.

Sounds like the ribbon cables to the display need checking. Post a snapshot just after you lift the display off leaving things connected of the backside of the crystal so we can see the connections before altering things.

@ryan93158 - Well I don’t see any obvious signs of damage, an issue I’ve seen is where you pry the display off can be the cause. Here the top side of your image is the ribbon cable which wraps around to the OLED panel. There is very little space that a knife edge could damage things. While not spelled out in the Apple Watch Series 4 Battery Replacement guide one needs to pry at the two straps sides.
