not turning on and beeping

Okay, my MIL gave me a Dell 580s tower with some important files. Didn't come with the original power cord, so I purchased one to try my best to retrieve the file. However, it's not booting, and it's not displaying anything. I tried the power button, but nothing. I can say that the power button blinks orange for HOURS, and it beeps 5 times every minute. The fans are operational, though. I still can't get it to boot up or power on. I don't see any damage on the board. There is a minimum amount of dust, but so far, I can't figure it out. HELP!

5 beeps seems to indicate a RTC CMOS battery problem - the coin cell battery needs replacing (usually a Cr2032 or similar).

Get a replacement battery, open tower, find coin-cell battery on board, note orientation, flip it out and put in the new one in same orientation.

close up, fire up - will need to set date/time, but should be good after that. Unless there is something else wrong...

@taylorvines besides the good answer provided by @jendelui use the Dell Inspiron 580 Service Manual to work on your computer. Page 10 shows you how to change the battery.
