Released September 16th, Apple's "smaller" flagship smartphone features a 6.1" ProMotion OLED, a triple-lens rear camera system, 5G, and a newly designed "Dynamic Island" around the front-facing camera and top sensors. Successor to the iPhone 13 Pro.

Should I be concerned about feature loss?

So, I bought this phone with a box to replace an iPhone 12 that's nearing the end due to a worn battery and intermittent partial display issues. The seller said it has 100% original Apple parts. I did get this message on the phone, but my True Tone and Face ID still work like it doesn't have a third-party display.

Is this a point of concern, or am I better off just accepting that my "new" phone has a third-party display? The 512GB 14 Pro cost me $578. Even on the latest iOS release, it still takes well to the screen.

Actually, it is entirely possible your new phone does have a genuine Apple screen. Starting with the 3rd gen iPhone SE / iPhone 12, Apple started pairing the display to the motherboard. Up until iOS 18, only Apple could pair a new screen to the logic board unless you used the self repair program. So for anyone else who wants to replace their own screen, you got used to the idea that you'd get a genuine screen warning whether or not it was a genuine Apple screen.

On some models there can be a loss of auto brightness and you would have to use a device programmer to reenable True Tone, which appears to have been done, so it looks like your only issue here is the genuine parts warning.

I'm not up to date on the new repair capabilities of iOS 18, but there's a chance you may be able to get rid of that warning using the new Repair Assistant feature, assuming it is a genuine screen. You can find more information about it on Apple's site.

I tried - refuses to run even with a update. The phone isn't shoving it in my face and I kept everything short of a warning. FWIW I've seen them priced much higher with the SKU I got (factory unlocked 512GB) go for more and often with weak batteries - this one has a 100% FCC pack which is something I checked against knowing the 14 is prone to being capacity sensitive with the AOD enabled by default.

If this is the only issue, it's something I'd rather live with than chase the perfect phone down, which may not have had the cloning done to keep the true tone and auto brightness. These phones are getting to that age where screen swaps are just going to happen.

I did want a 13 Pro for pSIM because you can't easily find the Canadian 14 Pro in the US. The issue is as a NEW or NEWLY purchased used devices is they're just a bit too tired at this point like my 12 is. Nearing the end of the line for updates, and the batteries are becoming a big problem. Even the screen costs about half of the current value of the 12.

It does fail when I try and finish the repair. It may be a genuine Samsung screen with a 3rd party IC with the cloning performed, as @dadibrokeit pointed out.
