Nikon D5200 Capturing Half-Frame Images After Few Shots, Shutter Issue

I have a Nikon D5200 DSLR. Even with a fully charged battery, I only get 5–6 proper landscape shots, and then it starts capturing half-frame images — meaning only the top half of the picture is visible while the bottom half turns dark. In portrait mode, I get around 7–8 shots before the same issue occurs. What could be the reason for this, and how can I fix it

@touhidfarid are you saying that this works well for the first few pictures and the it does not? Are you charging the battery after the first few good pictures? Have you tried a new battery. What else have you tried?

There are two movable elements in a SLR , the reflex mirror and the shutter it’s self which is can be a horizontal (side to side) or vertical design (up and down). I believe your camera has a vertical shutter so either the shutter or the mirror could be the issue behind your image issue.

Now the hard part! There is little one can do externally, you need to go quite deep into the camera if you are lucky the mirror lifting mechanism is where the issue is. Many cameras use an air piston to limit the vibration caused my the mirror when it moves. The shutter blades could have been soiled by lubricants which have wetted them causing them not to slide out of the way.

It might be best to get the camera serviced by a trained tech as these cameras are quite complex internally.

In both cases excessive heat is what sets things in motion as the oils shift when the camera gets too hot sitting in a car or near a window.
