Xbox controller not connecting or responding

Hello

Recently purchased and xbox which wouldnt power on and i found all sorts disconnected and ive got it working again. Its now a week later ive powered it on and it wont sync my controller via usb or bluetooth.

It detects my controller via usb as the controller vibrates but it wont sync, also i can connect to the xbox via the app using my phone as a remote and it shows on the screen it recognises i have connecting BUT it wont respond to any commands.

Will this be a synch and bluetooth board that needs replacing along with the ribbon cable? Or the accessory board?

Hi!

It does sound like the bluetooth board need to be replaced. I would do this first and see how that goes.

The issue you are describing is a bluetoothish issue.

If you need guides, please let me know!

I did find it odd how it would connect via the phone app but wouldnt recognise which buttons were being pressed.

If i knew the ins and outs of how it processes the information through the boards then it would make more sense.

Their is very little out there in the way of people encountering this issue and a fix for it but im glad you have confirmed my suspicions.

I will let you know if this fixes it.

Hello

So an update .... the bluetooth board did not fix the issue. However i do have a replacement ribbon cable for the sync board - mother board connection. I noticed initially that it looked like there was a severe bend in it and that under the insulation it was possibly broken so i ordered a replacement at the same time as the board. Cable arrives tomorrow so i will let you know.

Okay! Hopefully that is it. Otherwise it could be motherboard related… let’s hope for the best!!!

Turns out it was the ribbon cable! Installed new one and everythings working. Annoying as i went and ordered a sync board because i continuity tested the original cable and it came up it was ok.
