Trouble going into reverse

My truck is having trouble kicking into to gear when I put it into reverse to back out of my driveway, as well as into drive from reverse. This typically only happens when I first drive in the morning. Once it's been driven for a period of time, or at the end of my work shift, it doesn't have any issues when switching gears. What's up with that?
