Power on/off issues

Found out my old ds lite, after a full charge it worked seamlessly for about 2 days then would not turn on so figured the battery was dead. If charges fine but now it keeps going into standby mode on its own and won’t actually turn on using the switch. If I open it while it’s in standby I can get it to boot up and start a game everything works both screens all buttons and sound but will just randomly turn off after about a minuet. Not really sure what the issue is if someone can shed any light on this it would be great

Hi!

So you replaced the battery, but the problem continues?

It could be the power switch, but this is soldered on the board.

You can replace that one and see how it goes!

Can you let us know if that worked? Also, if you need a guide, please let me know. You need soldering experience to get this fixed.

Yes I have this evening tried it with a known good battery from a friends device and had the same issue after using a little spray contact cleaner into the power switch from outside and a lot on flicking it on and off I seem to have resolved the isssu. Although these is a slight rattle of something loose in the area of the case so I’ll open it up soon to investigate but yes it does appear that it was a power switch issue I guess it was getting stuck on.

Yeah, the power switch is the problem here!

Good thing that cleaning worked :)! Then I would leave it like it is. If it’s getting worse or if cleaning isn’t working anymore, then please replace the power switch..
