Hood sensor switch voltage

Hello.. I am trying to install a remote start kit in my grand daughters 2018 Ford Edge. It requires a working hood sensor circuit, I have discovered the voltage at the hood switch is 3 or 4 volts, Do I look for damaged wiring or could it be a bad BCM? Not sure how far into this I can go before I'm over my head.

Any thoughts please?

@jerryparnell "Do I look for damaged wiring or could it be a bad BCM?" neither nor. "3 or 4 volts" That is actually the right voltage. It is a low voltage signal circuit coming from the BCM and that voltage is exactly what the BCM will provide. No error on this circuit.

The latch switch uses ground to indicate the hood is open. For a remote starter you most likely will need to find a wire that shows ground only when the hood is closed.
