Why its Microphone not working

I can hear through my headphones, but my microphone isn't working, so I can't input sound. I'm only receiving audio output, with no microphone functionality.

Hi!

This can be caused by multiple issues.

First of, make sure that your microphone volume, or call microphone volume, on your device is neither muted or set too low, if you have such settings available. Also check that the app you're trying to use the headset with has sufficient permissions for microphone, Bluetooth and the like.

Otherwise, make sure you have sufficient Bluetooth device permissions for your headset. How to check this differs per device, but can typically be found by:

  • Entering Bluetooth devices / Paired devices menu.
  • Find and select the headset (or press more info).
  • Then check if you have allowed any available options, and do allow any and all options available, such as Phone calls, Media Audio, Contact Sharing, e.t.c.

Else, try to unpair or "forget" the headset, then re-pair the headset.

Make sure you're having the latest firmware / devices drivers.

Is there a companion app? If there is, check around in the settings for microphone settings or anything of the like.

Try out the headset on another device to discern if it is the microphones/headset that is broken, or if it is a software issue.

Another common technique is to fully discharge the headset (typically by using it until it turns off), and then charging it back to full battery again.
