Lightning port is intermittent

I bought this iPod for relatively cheap online and only now noticed that the charging port had an issue. The iPod will sometimes charge when plugged in, and sometimes not. It will also keep reconnecting every now and then (which gets very annoying. I'm pretty sure it is a connector issue and not a dust/debris issue as I thoroughly cleaned it out with tweezers. Should I replace the soldered lightning assembly?
