I can receive calls but the sender can't hear me for my Red Mi phone . Why

Can you be heard OK when using the phone in hands free (loudspeaker) mode or if you connect a pair of headphones/earphones with a microphone attachment to the phone's 3.5mm headphone jack?

Is the phone in a protective case? If so if you remove it from the case can you be heard OK when on a call?

Has the phone been dropped or gotten wet at all?
