Background and Identification
The iRobot Braava Jet 240 was released on April 1, 2016, with a selling price of $200. It replaced the iRobot Braava 380t, which was released in 2013. Many reviews praise the Braava Jet 240 for doing a more thorough job of cleaning than its predecessor. However, this comes at a cost of cleaning range; the Braava Jet 240’s range is a quarter of the size of the Braava 380t.
The Braava Jet 240 is a small, white and blue box weighing 3 pounds. The front face has a nozzle for ejecting water, which the cleaning pad on the bottom then mops up. The top of the robot includes a tank cap, which can be removed to fill the tank with water. There is also a pad eject button so used mop pads can be easily disengaged from the bottom of the robot. The top of the robot additionally has a handle, allowing users to easily carry the robot.
An additional feature of the Braava Jet 240 is the Virtual Wall feature. With the iRobot Home App, users can set up an invisible barrier for the Braava Jet 240. This means the robot can be set to avoid cleaning any areas the user doesn’t want to be mopped.
Since the release of the Braava Jet 240, iRobot has released newer series, such as the Roomba 690. These newer series maintain the same quality of cleaning as the Braava Jet 240 but increase the cleaning range. Additionally, these series improve WiFi connectivity.
