Open the door to the ink cartridge located on the right-hand side of the printer.

Push in new ink cartridge and close the lid.
What if the cartridge is still functioning before malfunctioning, not as finished catridge but needed firmness.
As above comment from Paul Soo, I too have replaced the cartridge with a new one and it still says I need a new cartridge.

My cp910 keep prompting ink cassette is empty even though I have inserted new ink cassette. I tried two new ink cassette, same error msg.

I have the same problem with my CP910???
I’ve inserted a new ink cartridge but now the printer won’t pick up the print paper to print the picture! I keep getting the same error message saying “no paper or cassette incorrectly inserted! Now, the new ink cartridge won’t eject either! HELP!

Seems like a major design flaw. I have had the same issue with two different Selphy's. Called Canon support and they just told me it was dead and I needed a new one. They said if it was under warranty I could get it fixed for free. I've only used this for less than 100 sheets of paper in the past 2 years and it's out of warranty so I lose. They did offer to let me have a replacement at a reduced price. When they told me the reduced price I realized it was $20 cheaper at B&H. They then offered to match B and H price. so they really is no reduced-price they're just trying to sell you another printer. I find that very sad from a big company like Canon to not support this. And I do believe this is a widespread issue and they are really not taking responsibility nor fixing it.

im facing the same problem, changed 2 new ink cartridges so far and still getting the same “epmty ink” error !! thats so frustrating !
I also called canon service but they will charge you half of the new machine cost for issue checking only. If you have to replace some parts, they will charge you the repairing cost. They don’t want to share any information what the root cause is. They just ask you to take machine to them for repair. I did disassemble the machine but cannot find anything wrong.
Someone found the solution and I tried it and it can fix this problem. Printer still indicate low ink?
I was printing and I ran out of ink I replaced the cartridge and now it won’t print. No error message nothing, the screen comes on it just doesn’t do anything. Can anyone help?

Just a thought.. I came to this page looking for a solution. My printer was coming up with endless error messages about the wrong size of paper or ink cartridge. Make sure the printer is on a flat surface, and the paper tray isn't dangling off the side of the table. Try squeezing the ink cartridge firmly as far as it will go into the printer while it is preparing to print. A combination of these things seemed to work!
No, still doesn't work.. and my husband just ripped off the new ink I inserted in 😭

we have an error message saying: "paper jam", but there is no paper in the printer. and when I try to eject the ink cartridge to have a look inside the printer, the ink cartridge won’t eject... is there anybody able to help here please ?
