Simjack Pro Replace Brass bushing by Bearing

This is a quick tutorial on how to replace the brass bushing by Bearing.

  1. Simjack Pro Replace Brass bushing by Bearing, Remove the spring.: adım 1, 1 resimden 1.

    • There's no spring on the brake pedal.

    • Just pull it with your finger, pretty easy to remove.

    • Just unscrew both M6 screw using the 5mm Allen Key.

    • If one screw is jammed and make the whole thing turn, just re-tight the other one and try again. Should be fine after that.

    • Just push or pull the middle tube then push the bushing out.

    • Add the bearing into the hole flange facing "outside".

    • Add a M5 1mm washing on the bearing, on the flanged part (facing outside).

    • 1mm washer is important.

    • You may use a dot of grease to keep the washer from falling.

    • Add the M5 bolt with a washer on it,

    • Make sure the washer on the bearing is still there, it's very important. You can use a flat screw driver to help you push it at the right place.

    • The internal and external washer dosent need to be precise 1mm. Only the one in the "middle".

    12mm and 16mm M5s were too short for me - I think a 20mm might work better?

    This might also be due to manufacturing variance but i was able to fit 2 x 1mm washers into one side, and 1 x 1mm washer in the other for the brake and throttle pedals.

    Maybe it was my error from my notes, I will take measurement and adjust the BOM if needed.

    But yeah, just fit whatever fit in there, it's not precise ! :)

    Updated the boom to M5x20mm, you were right. Not sure why I writed x12mm.

    Washer should be the same on both side to keep everything "straight". When tighting, they will both squeeze together and be equal on both side.

    • Add the washer and a M5 Nylon nuts.

    • You will have to push the bolt back a little to fit the nut.

    • Tight everything, very tight.

    • Nothing should be moving, except the pedals on the bearing. If it's not moving, maybe your bearing is not 1mm or it has fallen.

    • You may see a little "play" from the bearing into the metal plate, but it was minimal for me. You could add some glue to force it still into place.

    • Only for clutch and gas pedals.

    • Just place the spring back into place. You may use a little flat screw driver for help.

1mm exactly, that's about the space left between the bearing and the plate.

edit : Yes those should be fine.

Hi,

You mention F605ZZ (14x5x4mm) but all F605ZZ I find are 14x5x5mm.

Are you sure yours are 4mm wide ?

Is it necessary to lubricate any of these components? I happen to have a 'WD-40 Specialist PTFE Dry Lube' lying around, not sure If I should use it. Thanks!

No, bearing should already be greased and it will be the only thing that create the movement.

If you use two 6 i.d 8 o.d bearing sleeves you can use 8x14 flanged bearings without a need for any 1mm shim or having any slop between the bearing and hardware. Just use a bolt and nut and an extra bearing when pressing the sleeves into the bearings until the sleeve is even in the bearing and it should be 1 mm sticking out both sides. No need to fumble around with washers.

Good guide, but I needed to use my hammer a lot. My suggestion is to disassemble each pedal entirely once it's out of its base, for avoiding the risk of bending it in the process of using Jeremy Clarckson methods
