Use your hands or the thin plastic opening tool to remove the external housing ring as well as the smaller internal ring underneath.

Keep in mind that the red dot should be on the left side of the face. A small hole on the right side keeps the external ring centered on the lens release button. A similar hole on the left side keeps the internal ring centered underneath.

The three short depressed sections of the internal ring should be facing into the camera during reassembly.
