This is a good teardown when you will finally see what is under the black panel on the rear. It can also guide you to change the battery, if needed :)
Have a nice reading.

The earpiece remains in the screen assembly. Take care when removing it from the screen. Push gently on it from the screen-side to lift it out.

The procedure is very simple, but i realise that take off all the screws is a little bit difficult. As well, remove the motherboard that is attached to the plate behind the screen.
Question. How difficult is it to replace the glass?
I'm just about to have a go at it now!
I'll let you know
Just replaced the broken screen on my XT1039. Be aware XT1032,XT1033, XT1039 - the screen components are all the same. I bought the screen/frame/digitizer as one unit for the XT1032. It was relatively straight-forward with a bit of care and attention in certain areas. After you've taken the 14 screws out the rest of the phone is basically glued together with sticky-strips. I followed the advice on a You-tube video and used a hair dryer to heat up the ribbon cables and to loosen the earpiece. Phone now fully functional - hooray! Thanks to all on this forum!
Can we further dismantle individual elements on motehrboard? Like I want to replace the memory.
I follow the guide to replace the glass but now it's black.
When i press the power button, nothing happen; if i press it for some seconds, the phone vibrate, but nothing else.
What could be?
voce nao conectou o cabo flex corretamente ou seu display esta danificado ou sua placa esta em curto
I accidentally washed my phone in the washer for a few minutes. Everything is working except the touch screen. I think there is water in there. Would taking it appear to get the water out fix the touch screen?
Put it in Rice it works for me only wifi is nog working by me
I have dead moto g 1st generation XT1033 Indian version and i need to recover data only, no worries about the device any help or guidance for the same?
I ordered a T5 Torx screwdriver after reading this guide, but it's too big for the screws in my XT1039. I guess a T4 is the correct one.
Just to confirm, a T4 Torx screwdriver is the correct one for a XT1039.
I am looking to find new screws as the ones I have removed to replace the screen are somewhat rounded (had previusly had it replaced in store - decided this time to save some moneyy and do it myself!)
Any ideas on they type I need and where I can get them from please. Thanks in advance
I followed this procedure as carefully as I could. All done. Phone works great, except touch screen doesn't respond at all. Any suggestions?
Hi, I have a query. My phone Moto G (1st Gen) is not starting only the white notification light blinks when pressing power button. I tried to get it repaired in a shop but he told me that there is an issue with the BCM IC (Battery Chemistry ....), he told me that he was unable to find it in the market. Can any one please suggest me where can i get this and is there anything else that can be done(Please dont suggest to buy a new phone) As this is the first phone i bought with my first salary. Please help me out with this. Thanks.
Were can I find a guide about how to replace the SIM card holder? It seems some pin is broken, the mobile phone works just perfectly except for not reading the sim card
my uncle has toasted one of these units, the usb connector is damaged and his wife passed away recently and this unit had pictures he wants to recover, you wouldnt happen to know which is positive and which is negative on the internal battery cable, I cant charge it and from my understanding cant grab a usb unit from second gen to charge it though im not sure why, its an independent component on the second gen with the same battery so im down to this option
Hi there, thanks for this teardown. My moto g has become useless as a “smartphone” as the wifi has stopped working. It’s my view that as it failed over a period of a couple of weeks becoming progressively less reliable, that the issue is likely a crack in the solder / a failed junction. I would like to try and reflow solder at appropriate junctions, however I have no idea where the wifi receiver /transmitter is and also where the appropriate junctions are - I’m wondering whether anyone would like to make a suggestion or whether anyone knows this? This all happened after phone span out of my pocket at speed on my pedal bike (oops) - I’ve replaced with a 2nd hand moto g now running 4G and have kept the old phone for spares, but it would be great if I could actually fix it… I’m also about to attempt installing android 7 on my “new” motog - motorola don’t support this, so I’ll let you know how it goes if folk are interested…
