Okay, so after further research the plastic piece held down by the three crews is just a lid. It lifted up with a bit of pursuasion due to the glue/silicone mold. Do note, though, that there are different designs out there. My bulb has a star pattern LED layout. In my case lifting the lid made it easier to completely remove the shattered glass. Great stuff! Has anyone tried unscrewing the three screws seen on the second picture under step 1? I figure that would make it easier to get all of the broken glass out of the way and start with a clean slate before gluing the new glass on there. I just don’t know if there are any cables under there that would break or something of that nature, and don’t really want to find out if I risk breaking the entire thing.
Maybe someone with a completely dead bulb could try it and snap some pictures? Fingers crossed!
