I had the same problem, tried to open my selphy cp1200 after some months of its last use and after pressing the power on button it froze to the initial canon screen. Searched around the internet and found how to reset the printer and i decided to try it. So in order to reset it, you unplug it (if you use the battery i suppose you must remove it from the printer), then you press 5 times the power button (give it 1 or 2 seconds pressed and 1-2 seconds between the 5 times pressing it), then wait for 2 minutes. Then plug it to the power and press power on. Mine worked fine after that (at least for that time, don't know how it will respond the next time, hope it goes well!). I hope this will help!

It sadly hasnt worked for me, I cannot see how it would if the power was off? was the lead still connected?
Adam Clark - Yanıt
The power off and the plug off. I was wondering how this works, it might have an inner battery that it works for the reset.

Strange, I tried again but I think its jiggered, only printer a few pics a while ago, came to use it again now its out of its warranty and it doesnt work, waste of £130, should have just printed them at boots :(

My cp1200 has the same issues mentioned above. Has a solution for this issue been found. Perhaps a way can be found to upgrade the firmware even in this state (being stuck at the Canon logo)?

My Canon Selphy CD1200 printer has been working great. It prompted me to add a new printer cartage. I did and it is making this horrible sound and says I need to add the correct cartiridge’. It is a brand new Canon Selphy cartridge. It wont accept it ? Why?

I had the CP-910 and it did that and the whole thing crapped out. I replaced it with the 1200 and it isn’t working well either. I hope you were able to get it going again.

I had the gear issue like described for the CP910 today with my CP1200. The solution was like described here: https://de.ifixit.com/Antworten/Ansehen/...

my printer will spit out 2 or 3 prints but then says that the printer can not be detected. It does this every single time I use it and I can’t figure out why. Help

Haven’t used CP1200 in about 9 mo. Have same problem mentioned - turns on, Canon Logo on screen, nothing works. Tried the disconnect, press the power button 5 X to reset, mentioned above by ElenaLas. Nothing. I might try calling them. It was a gift a few years ago so I don’t have a receipt. Still have a couple packs of postcard size paper. If I get any info will see if I can update this post.

This thing is the biggest piece of junk ever. Had it for 3 or 4 years now, it has never worked right. I just spent another $20 on adapters and memory cards since it will not and has never printed via WiFi connection. It will not read my flash drive via USB port, it will not read my SD card via SD card inserted into port… it’s the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. Ill never buy a Canon again.

I wonder if this printer has an internal clock battery like on a pc - as after a period of no use it refuses to bootup. Stuck on the logo screen. I have started to dismantle and searching for anything that looks like an internal battery…

Mine too, I can’t get it pass the logo screen even tired resetting it. Any help out there?

Hello Canon,
Anyone there? Your logo is all I see on the screen of my Selphy CP1200. . . Has anyone had any luck fixing this problem?
Lynn Sheredy - Yanıt
Okay— I just relocated my Selphy CP1200 right next to our WiFi and booted it up and it’s working fine. . . No more CANON LOGO only screen. Yay!
Lynn Sheredy - Yanıt
That didn’t work either for me😩

My CP1200 has the same problem - stuck to Canon logo and unresponsive. Tried “resetting” it by power cycling it unplugged, tried putting it near the WiFi router. Nothing helps. It is out of warranty, but I contacted a local Canon authorized repair shop. They said Canon doesn’t make spare parts for the Selphy line and they are unrepairable - no documentation, tools, etc. If it goes bad and is within waranty, they simply replace it. Otherwise - bad luck. So they are basically disposable electronics. Very disappointed at Canon for this. Been using their cameras for the past 20 years and they had excellent track record for reliability and support. This is very anti-consumer and unsustainable approach. Now I’m stuck with over 100 sheets of proprietary paper and ink. The next model - CP1300 seems to be just as unreliable, so I’d rather sell the paper than buy another of these overpriced bricks!

I did a bunch of digging, and seems the only fix is to replace the mainboard of the printer, also seems to be a common fault that Canon are not gonna do a %#*@ thing about if your warranty is up. I have since bought an Epson printer…
Siarl P - Yanıt
The photos print is very dark. How do I adjust it? I got the brightness setting on the printer at +3 and it did not change anything. I also tried to find adjustments in the settings but they are not there.
Thanks,
Jim

I have the same issue, turn it on and it gets the canon logo.
For the price of these printers, you would think they would be built a little better.
I have had several larger printers from Canon and have been very happy with them but if this is what they are putting out these days I'll switch to either HP or Epson.
VERY DISAPOINTED

Have the same issue with the power not coming full in and just the canon sign. Called customer service and they said to try the pressing the on button 5 times but it didn’t work. Very sad.

The same happened to me. Printer won’t start with the display showing cannon. I tried the press 5 times but didn’t work. Had to get a new one😩

Canon should replace this mal function printer to everyone who has this issue.

I have just today been advised by Canon that the Selphy CP910 I have - which is stuck on the Canon screen - needs to be repaired but cannot be repaired as it is discontinued and therefore they don’t have parts to repair it! None of the resets I found online work and Canon didn’t offer any advice in that regard.

I have used mine literally twice and now it will not turn on. It is plugged correctly into the power cord and the wall. I have used every single plug socket in the house, I have held down the power button for a whole minute and nothing. It is completely dead. There is zero help in the manual, zero help on the Internet. It is a heap of junk fit for the bin and nothing more.
