Device will not connect to computer
You have plugged in the Oculus Rift DK2, but your computer does not seem to be responding to it.
Make sure you have downloaded the correct and most recent device drivers
If you have a Mac running OS X, download the following:
Oculus Runtime, SDK, and Unity Tuscany Demo for OS X
If you have a PC running Windows, download the following:
Oculus Runtime, SDK, and Unity Tuscany Demo for Windows
All of which can be found here.
Make sure your device drivers are up to date
Follow this link and download the appropriate driver according to the section above.
Video is not displaying properly
The video feed to the headset is discolored, choppy, or non-exsistent
Broken display screen
If there are broken or missing pixels in the display, it is possible that the display screen is broken. Broken pixels will look like black spots or discolored spots in the display.
Fried video driver hardware
Integrated circuits are used to drive the video to the display screen. It is possible that overpowering or other outside sources has damaged the internal circuitry of the motherboard headset. One may replace the entire motherboard of the headset. Alternatively, advanced users may attempt to replace the specific video driver chip.
Broken camera motherboard
If video is not displaying properly, it may be due to a malfunction in the camera's motherboard. This motherboard serves as the video data collector. A fried motherboard may prevent proper video data collection. In this case, the camera housing may be disassembled and the motherboard may be replaced.
Blurs in images/video
''The video that you are viewing through the headset is overly blurry"
Cracked lens
If there are cracks in image quality, it is possible that the lens has a crack. Sometimes these cracks are so small that they are easy to overlook upon visual inspection. Even small cracks or scratches can cause large errors in image quality. In this case, the marred lens can be easily removed and replaced.
Smudged lens
Slight blurs in on the screen may be caused by dirt or other buildup on the lens. Simply using a lens cleaning cloth to wipe off the lens surface may clear up this problem.
Device will not power up
You have plugged in all the necessary cables, but the power LED remains unlit
Fully plug in the cable
Make sure the cables are fully plugged in and secured in their respective ports.
Frayed USB cable
Crimps or cuts in the USB power cable may hinder connection to the power port of the device. Make sure the cable is not overly bent or crushed in any way. If it is apparent that the cable has been severely damaged, a replacement may need to be purchased.
Device is not tracking motion properly
You are sensing extensive lag or insensitivity to movement when operating the Oculus Rift DK2
Burnt out IR LED
The Oculus Rift DK2 uses infrared technology to sense user movement. If the device shows extreme insensitivity or lacks response to user movement, it may be due to a failure in an infrared transmitting (IR) LED. There is network of IR LEDs within the frame of the device; one or more of the IR LEDs may have burnt out and need replacing.
Fried LED driver chip
The IR LEDs used to track motion are driven by chips on the device's motherboard. If the device shows extreme insensitivity or lacks response to user movement, it may be due to a failure in an LED driver chip. In this case, one may replace the entire mother board of the device. Alternatively, advanced users may attempt to replace one or all five of the LED driver chips.
