held power and volume button now downloading something/frozen

My son tried to turn his tablet on but held the volume key at same time as power button, a message came up saying if you proceed it will download something so my husband tried to cancel or go back but the only button that would respond to being pressed was the volume key and now the tablet is frozen on a screen with the Android pic and writing in top left corner showing product: GT-P5210, current binary: samsung official and system status: Official

under the Android pic in middle of screen it says downloading do not turn off target.... but has been stuck like this for over an hour with no change.

Samsung support was useless to talk too.

My samsung tablet 10.1 on/off button is depressed and is difficult to turn on.

Best bet is to let the battery die completely, then charge it and turn it on normally. I just put a tab 3 into download mode myself after reading this post to see if there was an easy way out, none of the normal methods work (power + vol down/up/home). So from what i can see you just gotta drain it then charge it :) hope this helps.

Edit: Guys, this method was ONLY for this model of device where the normal reset procedure was not working. Anyone applying this method to any other device should instead use the Vol Down + Power or Vol Down + Power + Home Button method as it’s much quicker than letting the device completely discharge it’s battery.

Of course the other option is to pull the battery but a lot of people don’t want to open their device. Just clearing some things up because it seems some people can’t understand the context of this specific situation.

If your Galaxy Tab S2 is locked in "Downloading...Do not remove target..." mode, you will need to pull the battery. I know you're thinking the battery is not removable on this device, and you're right.

All is not lost, however, you can simulate "battery pull". To do so, hold the [Volume Down] + [Power] buttons down for about 5 to 10 seconds. Your device should restart.

It worked amazingly for me. mine stayed 4 hours in that mode i was afraid to pull out the battery thinking i will crash the phone........thanks alot

i had a same problem so i solved it like this

press "home button+power utton+volume up+volume down button" for few seconds...

your cell will power off then start it in a normal way

you are done. :)

you need to download it in the computer then something will pop on your tablet that it is downloading and you finish it is fix

Everybody seems have a complex way of solving this, but my galaxy tab 2 7.0" gets out of that screen simply by 'holding the power button for a few seconds'. It turns off and then you just turn it back on ( hopefully booting into the OS unlike mine currently is haha .. personal separate issue tho
