Why does my battery die so quickly?

My battery on my Canon Eos 6D has been dying very quickly after I messed with some settings. Can anyone help? Do I need to repair anything on my camera or buy a new battery?

One reason for a short battery-life is that the camera's GPS system is activated. The GPS system draws a lot of power from the battery and as a result has a large impact on battery life. Refer to our troubleshooting guide to learn how to deactivate your camera's GPS.

If the GPS is on it will stil be on even if the camera is turned off and it will drain the batteri.

Another thing that could be killing your battery is if you turned off the automatic shut off option. You can have it shut off at 1 minute or 30 minutes. What that does is essentially put your camera in sleep mode. Once you press your shutter half way down, it will come back on. I accidentally turned that off one day and didn't realize it. My batteries would die like crazy and then I realized the camera was actually staying on all day. instead of going to sleep. Hope that helped!
