iPhone was left in the rain, new battery needed?

I have this iPhone that was left in the rain. I was able to get it to power back up, but now it has problems with charging properly (jumped from ~40% to ~60% in about half a second the other day). It also will randomly shut off, requiring plugging into the charger to get it to fire back up. As far as I can tell, when it's plugged into the wall/car charger or the computer it will work just fine, no problems.

EDIT: I took the small screws holding the screen out and suctioned the screen up and the water tags are white. I assume this is a good sign.

travishayes89, since you are dealing with liquid damage, I would definitely suggest you follow this guide first. Check for any missing, burned or charred looking components. After you get it cleaned properly, replace the battery This is not optional but a must to avoid failure later on. iPhone's/iPod's do some weird things after liquid damage. Hope this helps, good luck

I suppose the best thing to do right now would be limiting the usage of the device until I can afford to get the replacement kit for the battery. I will be doing the cleanup that you linked to when I am able to get the battery kit.

Time could be of the essence. Always keep in mind that corrosion starts immediately. Best of luck to you and let us know how it works out.
