display housing partly unattached
My display housing of the LCD is unattached near the hinges of the display in the one side.
It's kind og hard to explain so please see picture:

It somehow looks to me, as if the housing was originally just glued together, but i don't know.
I will appreciate any help thanks

Same thing happened to me, mines a late 2008 model. & I'm honestly sick of being saying that it has been dropped. Search it on google if you don't believe, they are hundreds of people with the same problem.
No it hasn't been dropped, this is a laptop that cost me 2.6k. I've been incredibly careful with it.
I believe it is due to unibody design of the macbook, and the way the hinge is fixed and heat is released. The air vents of the macbook are right behind the hinge, & considering how hot macbooks can get from the hot air being vented out.
This is weaking the black hinge plastic (making cracked lines the way plastic has when it is stressed and stretched), or weakening the glue that holds the screen to the unibody screen. Both of which has happened to mine, the gap in my led screen and unibody is significantly larger than yours btw.
Utterly disappointed with this design flaw, do hope apple changes the entire design in their next release in late 2011 or 2012.

I have read all solutions and I got the same issue with a 2008 macbook pro 15 too.
I understand I have to use some kind of epoxy. but anyone with a good long term fix can say which one I should try ???
Also, I have heard about E6000 glue, did anyone tried it ?
Thanks people!

I had the same problem with my MacBook Pro 2009 15". The Apple Store was specifically told it had NEVER Been dropped. Until the hinge failure, it was pristinely put back in the box half the time. When I picked it up it looked 'sprung'. Unfortunately, I fiddled with pushing and pulling them back into place and that SAME GLUE U mentioned came apart and a HORRIBLE CRUNCHING sound later, my display is loosened downward and the display cracked in the closing pinch. 1 guess what Apple Store put down. - dropped! It is pristine!

After a lot of searching and trying, I have fixed it using J-B WELD Original epoxy bond. Works like a charm today :)
