Back Camera not working after screen replacement?

Hello,

So I had cracked my iPhone 6 screen and, after replacing the screen, my front camera is working as it normally should but when I switch to the rear camera, the camera app freezes. Also, the flashlight does not work. Any ideas how working on the front of the phone could have caused this or how to go about fixing this issue? I have tried restarting the phone, and updating the iOS to the latest version.

Hey, I've not long had the same issue, luckily I had a spare iPhone 6 on hand and swapped the rear cameras, no idea how I broke it as I never touched it.

I've been doing phone repairs for years as well.

And it's weird that the back camera causes the back flash not to work, considering they are now separate units and not on the rear camera itself, as soon as I replaced rear camera, both rear camera and flashlight worked!

Is it possible to order the original rear camera, my case happens to be very similar to yours. Or do you know if jumping the IC creates any further slow or permanent damages?

Santosh: The component is a voltage-regulator that deliver 2,85V to the cameras. If you jump this pins, you'll give 4,6V to the cameras. So this may damage other components.

I can see maybe where I went wrong myself, as I used the gTool to reshape the corner where the back camera was, and I hadn't unplugged the battery, so maybe caused some sort of shortage?

Like I said, I replaced the back camera and all was fine.

It's quite unfortunate that a few people seem to be having this issue without really touching the back camera, I haven't really seen it in any of the other iPhones except the latest.

If replacing the front and back camera doesn't work, chances are it is logic board damage somewhere on the board.

I have the same issue with my 4S. Both cameras don't work after replacing of screen. What to do??? :((

I've checked the schematics, and this component is a voltage-regulator that deliver 2,85V to the cameras. If you jump this pins, you'll give 4,6V to the cameras. So this may damage other components. Anyways very helpful. Now I know what to do to fix this. :-) The name of the component is U2301 if other people want to search for places to buy a replacement IC.

My back camera and flashlight on IPhone 6s+ stop working after I damage flex cable from rare camera and earpiece.I did replace it and everything back to normal.So anyone who have this issues shoul check flex cable and also if you're earpiece is working or not.Seems like back and front camera,flashlight depend on each other,but someone mention it not.So that solution may work for someone :)

Some components are shared between the front camera, rear camera and flash, and other are not. So if the other functions is affected depends on the fault.

For example they share a voltage-regulator, if that one is faulty, both the cameras and flash would fail.

My ip6s+ front and rear camera both don't work, do you think replacing the cameras will solve the problem?

I just replaced my battery and I'm having those issues. When I open my camera the screen is black. I can't switch from rear or front. The Flashlight does not work when I make calls I can't hear anything through the earpiece. Can you help me???

You just need to purchase a new camera on Aliexpress or wherever you purchase and replace the old one for the new one. That will make it work. In the future be sure to turn off the iphone and unplug the battery before you replace a screen - that will prevent that from happening ever again.

This component ajust the voltage from 4,6V to 2,85V. If you just make a jumper you'll feed the cameras with 4,6V which can do damage to other components. I'll recommend to replace the component with a new one.

Just connect it with metal, w battery on?

ezzat: Just solder the points together with tin. No need for extra metal. Have the battery disconnected. Don't push or pull the component too hard when youre about to desolder it. The solderingpoints on the mainboard is weak. I recommend to have soldered this component size some times before you try. And you should use microscope to see anything at all.

I had the same problem with my iphone after i dropted it. So when i replaced it, it had the same problem. Maybe when you conected the ports may not be conected well. Or maybe the wires are damaged. I sugest to open the phone and look any lose wires. Or the wires are not compatable with the phone.

jumper solution on U2301 is not recomended best solution is replace the component ..

anyway this is only on issue for both camera error no for rear camera only.
