turns on but screen doesn't start

I hope yall can help me with this, i'm a little desesperate about it. So here's the thing:

I just installed windows 10 on my laptop, everything was fine. I shutted off the pc and then turned it on, but nothing happened. It was only a black screen. Power lights turned on as usual but nothing happened with the other ones: wifi, hard drive. After doing it several times os charged but just like after a minute with the black screen and trying a lot.

I tried to turned on and off again several times but the result was the same. I even tried reinstalling windows, but this time i used windows 8, but the problem stayed the same. I kept doing the turnin off and on thing but then three short beeps started. I took it to some friend of mine and he restarted the bios but the first problem stayed the same.

I researched in some forums and found out that it could be a problem with the mother board but i'm not sure at all. I wish it's not that. Anyway, please, help me :(

Dell says its the motherboard and costs $269 and change to fix. Not worth it

I purchased dell inspiron 24 7000 in july 2016, now august 28, 2017 the all-in-one does NOT turn on. I contacted dell and they told me that I need a Motherboard replacement. This device cost $1,599. I’ve GOOGLED Dell Inspiron 24 7000 series and there is countless stories about this Inferior device. Dell wants us to pay $259 + to send the device to dell to replace the one year old motherboard, or $150 for someone to come to my home and look at the device, and additional money to install a motherboard. Does anyone know a honest repairman or shop in long beach, ca 90807?

I am having the same issue. I used my laptop as usual and turned it off and went to bed. The next day, I went to turn it on and there were 2 or 3 loud beeps but nothing happened. I have the Dell Inspiron 15 (3520 Series). I've taken it to UbreakIfix and they've had it for 3 days now and can't figure out what's wrong. If I have to pay more than $150 I might as well buy a brand new computer when I've only had this one for 2 years.

According to this user, upgrading the BIOS fixed the problem and they were able to keep Windows 10 installed. You have to remove the CMOS battery in order to get it boot however, so there is some disassembly needed. You basically remove the laptop battery and all of the screws from the bottom. Then remove the keyboard and then the keyboard bezel. You can then remove the CMOS battery and let it sit for a while. I also disconnected all power and data connections from the motherboard. After it sits for a while (I let it sit overnight), put it back together and power it on. It took it a good 4-5 minutes to show the Dell screen on the one I was working on, so be patient. Once booted, you can either revert back to Windows 8, or you can try and keep Windows 10 by installing the A10 Bios for the Inspiron 3520 as described in the above post. My customer chose to keep Windows 8, but I also updated the BIOS to A10 for good measure.

Windows 10 will still try to install after reverting back to Windows 8, but you can disable the upgrade from trying to install. This site has good instructions:

I REALLY THANK YOU SO SO SO FREAKING &&^&^$^ MUCH! I just updated bios and it worked perfectly as if nothing ever happened. Let's just see how things going on the next days, but really thank you!

how do you update BIOS? not sure how to do it especially when it wont come on. Thanks

After you go through the process of removing and reinstalling the CMOS battery, you should then be able to boot it up into Windows. At that point, you can update the BIOS.

Dear All,

Mentioned error comes from Memory location related error> Here you can find guide for remove RAMs in your notebook, after removing RAMs, turn on your notebook and turn off after 15 sec. then reinstall RAMs and turn it on again,

it should work

Line's dell inspiron 2330 . I had this problem every time! Whenever I start the computer fan turns on but no display and USB ports not working, regularly when I start my PC I hear this loud fan going and than display a logo and now it doesn't

Try a hard reset. This is done by disconnecting everything connected to you laptop all power and all usb and cables. Then remove the battery and hold the power button on for 60 seconds or longer . This is to drain any residual energy from the laptop and for the mem to clear. Hope this helps

mine is a Dell inspiron 15 Series 3521.i have install Windows7 it work normally, then when i install the Loader to crack it, it keep on On and Off and didnt switch to Windows

What i did is i removed the battery. After that it worked.

Hey guys I had same problem with my laptop while upgrading to windows 10 it stopped working and was beeping 3 times but sometimes it used to beep continously and then I gave it to the repair shop he told me about bad ram and some other minor issues in motherboard.Total repair cost was INR 4250 which included : ram -1300 keyboard-850 repairing charges -2100 . I havent received my laptop yet but update review as soon as i get it

I have a Dell 3520 and have the same issue. But, I've been using Windows 10 for about 2 weeks. Everything was working fine until I did a Restart one morning and I get a blue Windows screen almost immediately after the Dell splash screen with some error message and it did an automatic restart before I could see what it said. Second time, the same thing again but after rebooting again, I get just a black screen and no Dell splash screen. The power light comes on and the disk usage light flickers a bit then ....nothing. It just sits there fat, dumb (and not happy). I've read some of the replies here and will plan to try some of the suggestions (thanks for the input people). I know I upgraded the system BIOS recently, but not sure what version I was using before the crash. I did see a statement issued on Dell's website that says the 3520 has NOT been tested for Windows 10 so I guess we are taking are chances. Got a new laptop on the way, but in the meantime, if I ever do get the 3520 up and running again I'm going to reload Windows 8.1 and keep it as such.

Hi. I managed to boot properly using method above. And also reverted back to Windows 7. The only problem is that there's so much delay with boot. The dell logo won't show up when you push the power button, I have to wait for a minute.

I also run series of diagnostics and I got passed all the diagnostics. I don't know the real culprit here. I hope to get updates from here

Got you guys an additional step for this black screen issue. I know that some of you still having black screen. This additional step is to Reflash the Bios. I think the Bios got corrupted that's why it is hard to access it after the POST.

How did you re-flash the BIOS? I'm at A10 and the A10 version from Dell won't let me install. Tells me I'm already on A10. Also tried to downgrade to A09 but it won't let me install an older version.

Hi all. I am using Dell Inspiron N4010 model. I has windows 7. Ubuntu linux Partitioned seperately. IT was working well from past two years. Now suddenly someday When I power on screen doesn't start. Dell dsiplay windows come from then it will not display any Os winodow to select. What to do . how to resolve it.
