shield screws mixed up

Hello

Hopefully you can help me

Change an iPhone 5 screen the other day but got the 3 shield screws mixed up. I've got the non magnetic one on underside of the motherboard but could only put a magnetic one on top . Also the other 2 are just random small screws .

How could this affect my phone

Also could I just purchase the 3 correct screws from you

I could buy a bag in eBay but if I got the whole set of screws I'd never know what 3 I needed

Can you help me please

The lower right one is the most important, if you use a screw that is too long you could strip the logic board grounding copper out and be left with a blue screen of death (BSOD) that renders the iPhone useless until repaired with microsoldering.

If you have a digital caliper I would recommend using that to measure the screws, correlate with the iFixit guide on the length and there's your fit.

iFixit doesn't sell the screws in question you need individually, except as a whole bag unit unfortunately. :-/

Thanks for that

What's the length of those 2 at the bottom. I can at least make sure they are the right length

Thanks

According to our guide it is 1.2mm. Fortunately both bottom screws are the same, so as long as you have the upper right correct you're in the clear!

non magnetic is always top right. i would love to know why this is. somebody please tell me, it has been killing me for ages.

whenever you're in doubt just look at what it's screwing into. If that screw is going into a standoff then you're going to want the long screw, if it's going into the logic board then you want the short screw.

That's because the compass module (chip/fuse/whatever?) is housed there. Magnetic would throw it off :P

I finally have an answer... everytime I remove that screw I ask myself this question. Thank you!
