Why is my paper jamming every time?

It seems like the paper is entering the printer unevenly because every time I try to print, one side if the paper will get jammed. There is nothing stuck in the printer to make it do that. Other than the paper jamming, the printer seems to be working just fine.

Unfortunately, no. I have cleaned the rollers several times according to the advice in the maintenance instructions of my quite new Canon Pixma TS8150. But as soon as the printer attempts to run the duplex, a hissing noice occurs. The same thing happens wether I use the rear tray or the cassette.

Hi @orjwid ,

If it is "quite new", check if the manufacturer's warranty period is still valid.

If it is contact the manufacturer as per the warranty statement (usually found in the User manual) regarding a repair, replacement or refund.

tarafından

I notice that my Canon PIXMA TS8050 has no roller cleaning features in Maintenance menu. Mine has a duplex jamming fault. Will try your cotton bud cleaning idea. Not good for a 2 year old printer!

I agree with swartell. I am so fed up with this printer I am planning to replace it as soon as possible. I purposely purchased this model as a replacement for my Pixma MP960 which I loved. What a waste of money.

I'm ready to throw this stupid printer out the window! It worked great for a few months and now I'm stuck inside waiting for husband to be discharged from stroke rehab and I can't dare go buy another one!!!! I HATE THIS ONE! Doesn't matter how little or much paper, it will suck it ALL at once or do freaking nothing!!!!!!!! And where is the freaking rear tray?????

Hi,

You need to check that the paperfeed rollers in your printer are clean. If they are not the paper feed may be uneven and jambs may occur.

As you do not state the model number of your printer, here are generic instructions on how to perform a paperfeed clean for a Canon printer

Block Image

If the instructions do not match your printer, consult your printer's User Guide.

For a model PIXMA MG3620, do you have any suggestions? Paper appears to be getting pulled into the printer unevenly (one side of the sheet of a paper gets pulled in more quickly than the other, with the result that it bunches up and jams the printer every time).

Hi @paperjam ,

Check that the paper feed rollers are clean and not grabbing at the paper. Here's a video that may be of some help

My printer (TS9120) is still jamming after having repeatedly cleaned the rollers. If I clean them 3 times in a row, I may be able to get 3 documents to print, then the jamming starts again. Paper is unused, dry, paper tray not too full (10 sheets), no bits of paper or other stuff inside printer in any location I can see, same package of paper I've been using for the last 3 months, same brand of paper I've been using for years. I am thoroughly fed up; I've had the printer for 13 months. It should not become unusable in such a short period of time. Does anyone have any other suggestions for how to fix this?

tarafından

I did swab the rollers but it did not eliminate the problem . So disappointed in this printer. It wasn’t inexpensive not to mention the cost of the ink. No joy here.

Yes! I thought it was the high gloss photo paper I was using and photos are primarily what I use this printer for. This is my second printer of the same model and I gave up and bought a new one. I bought the same model because the quality of the pictures was so superior to other printers but I literally did throw the first one in the trash. When it started happening again with the second printer after a year, I just got used to clearing the jam after every picture. Finally, I was ready to throw away the second one and finding a cheap printer with inferior prints so I wouldn't feel as bad about tossing it. Roller cleaning; there's a concept I never heard of. I wish I had used google to search for an answer before throwing the other one away, a rather costly error.

Fixed! ( for me).

As is stated normally this is the rollers. However I tried roller cleaning on my G4210 to no avail.

I noticed that I could not even force paper through the left hand side, which made me think something was blocking it.

So I folded a piece of paper long ways so it was sturdy but would fit through the right side. Then I carefully 'flossed" my way over to the left side and "Ping" out comes a push-pin that was blocking the paper! Funny thing is it was not visible at all from any view.

How were you able to do that because my printer is having the same issue.

My Pixma 2900 would only pull paper about half way through. I tried all the different fixes but none of them worked, until I tried this one. Nothing came out of mine that I could see but we did have some reno work done in the family room just a few steps up from where the printer is. Maybe an accumulation on drywall dust got in, I don't know but this method fixed it. Thanks David.

Cheers, Graham.

Thanks! I folded A4 long ways too (twice - so that it was 4 layers thick) and 'flossed' as you said. I went right to left, and back again a few times. Didn't hear or notice anything like your push-pin but at least it printed immediately afterwards!

Thanks,

Mark

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I flossed as you did - did not see anything emerge, but VOILA it prints like it was meant to. You (and God) are my hero!

I ended up having to use a half a cardboard file folder folded in half, but it did the trick. Thank you

I had a similar problem with as Pixma TS8050. Took a damp cotton bud and tissues to clean all the rollers at the back, under the cover. It now does not jam on 2-sided printing.

I haven’t tried yet, nut it sounds sensible, and quite different from any other advice I have heard of. Thank you very much.

Ill give that a whirl on my brand spanking new Pixma TR7560 which keeps jamming often or grabbing multiple papers of the tray. I don't like using the word worst but I must say I never had jamming issues in the past with my Epson & HP printers so this specific Canon range does not count among my better experiences :).

My MG8220 was jamming if fed from the cassette, or the rear tray. I tried everything! But then decided to REALLY clean EVERYTHING in the paper path. The rear rollers, the rollers behind the ink cartridges. which I think was the culprit. I took a q-Tip and simple green cleaner and scrubbed and scrubbed those rollers. I discovered they were in fact not black! They are grey! There is also a metal bar below the rollers that has a somewhat gritty surface. I am guessing to aid in paper moving through. I cleaned it also. After I was satisfied it was SPOTLESS, I fired it up and printed perfectly from cassette or rear tray! YEAH!

It is the printer paper sensor switch that jams located on the right hand side of the two rollers when viewed from the paper tray with out any paper in the tray ,tried to no avail to find out any solution .Firmware and Drivers update so must be the sensor or software within the printer fault .Bad design or perhaps in built on purpose .

The following is a general guide to Fix paper jam issue use the following procedure.

1. Confirm all the messages that appear in the display.

2. Remove any loose paper in the loading tray.

3. Press the Resume button on the front of the printer.

4. Remove stuck paper one sheet at a time, starting in the middle.

5. Check for any remaining bits of paper.

Reloading and testing the printer

  1. Once you've removed the jam, cleared away any remaining bits of paper, and ensured the print carriage can move without issue, test your printer.
  2. Put some inkjet paper into the loading tray and slide it into place.
  3. Print a test page by performing a self-test. Usually, a self-test can be initiated by pressing and holding the Resume button until the printer starts printing.

Canon pixma 3620. Paper pulled in crooked resulting in paper jam/tearing. After going through all cleaning maintenance and manually cleaning it was still happening. Upon inspection I noticed a small spring attatched to a white piece of plastic that was getting caught on the paper, causing the tear and no-feed problem.. I detached the spring and pushed gently until it popped off.. Miraculously the paper instantly fed through and have not had the problem since.

Like many of you my paper is feeding to one side and jamming. However, in the lead up I noticed a clunking sound.

I've cleaned the printer, rollers, test cleaned etc.

The paper is still jamming.

How do I stop the clunking sound? I think it's related to why the paper feeds unevenly towards the left.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there just wanted ta throw out there...My TR4522 was on the same paper jam trip sitting out support code 1300 when there wasn't even really a paper jam & sometime it wouldn't even roll paper or try to print & would spit out paper jam bologna... Well after a year of sitting I gave the "bottom cleaning" tray/plate suggestion (also I gave the tray & alignment railings a light dusting with a very soft clean paint brush..) a go & low & behold this sucker is "Back Online Printing Again!!" Just folded paper as so, ran the bottom cleaning twice...& its all good now... How to do bottom cleaning video tutorial is here >>>>>>>

I have a Canon G2260 Mega Tank All in One Printer. I got a paper jam, pulled out all the paper, checked all ports, back front and inside. Still a Code 1300. Will not let me try maintenance. Tried unplugging, and waiting for 20 min, wiped the belt inside with alcohol as suggested on youtube. Took the cartridge out of the back to look inside there. Still a Code 1300. Called Canon, no help there, even though the printer is still under warranty. I can't use my printer, is there any one that can help. Was told by Staples no one does printer repair anymore, they would take mine and scrap it for me.

My canon 4570 is taking the paper once the printer is on without any print command. And the 3 rd paper is jammed. I have just replaced the cartridge. When print job is given it's throwing blank papers and now jamming problem cropped
