Unfortunately launcher has stopped shown adding widget. Got a fix?

After upgrading to Lollipop via carrier's OTA (Republic Wireless Moto X 1st Gen) the phone won't allow adding a weather widget on the Home screen. Can configure location and options but as soon as I hit "Done" the message "Unfortunately launcher has stopped" will immediately be displayed. This happens every single time. I also uninstalled the app and re-downloaded one that is supposed to be compatible with Lollipop (just to be on the safe side) but it made no difference. Does anyone know a way to fix the problem? Thanks! :)

Well as it turns out I am a bit more stubborn than average when it comes to finding a fix for something, so I though I'd share it with the readers here. While this method didn't fix my android launcher, it allowed me to forget completely about it and it stopped giving me the issue mentioned in my question here (if you do find a fix for that, please do share! :)). I simply looked for another launcher in the Play Store, then I selected and installed Google Now launcher. In the settings I selected this new launcher to be sued by default and as soon as I got it configured in a couple steps, the launcher is now working as intended without the nonsensical, annoying bs error message "Unfortunately launcher has stopped". Problem gone ;)

Side note: such messages should not be displayed to users unless followed by a screen bringing users to a forum, site or service where the issue can be identified and resolved... but Google might disagree... after all, hey... I'm just a user and I don't know any better when it comes to UI/UX! ;P
