Hi,

I have a brand new Fire 7 from Amazon and it has been charging for 24 hours now and still is saying “one second pleaes.” I’m not sure what the problem is. Should I plug it into a different outlet? Or try something different.

Thanks.

After all of these complaints, WTF!? Kindle Fire just upgrade the battery and chargers!! Why are we paying for this wonderful item that takes forever to charge? Do you want us to get an ipad instead? I hate apple and refuse to buy into their BS. But this charging mechanism should be changed so PLEASE THE PURCHASER. Thank you.

Hi @ Brenda Williams,

It may be better to send an email to Amazon regarding this problem, as they manufacture the tablet.

I'm fairly certain that they take no notice of what is said on this forum.

If nobody tells them then they're not going to do anything about it.

If enough people tell them then perhaps they will and more so if they return the product if it has failed when it is still under warranty then this will cost the manufacturer and nothing wakes them up more than that.

I LOL'ed at your response "jayeff", specially the... "I'm fairly certain that they take no notice of what is said on this forum"

It is not the Kindle HD 6 tablet problem. You need the right USB cable and the right AC power plug in. Get one that has this specifications. Input: 100V - 240V; Output: DC 5V - 2A Max (Also Compatible with 5V-1A, 5V-1.5A etc). This will charge the internal battery to 100% with in 30 minutes.

Hi,

It's all in the maths. Your Kindle Fire HD 7" has a 4000 mAH battery.

If you are using the charger that came with it, it has a 1000 mAH output.

As a rule of thumb, not quite strictly true but close enough, with these figures it could take up to 4 hours to charge the battery from flat to fully charged.

(4000 mAH divided by 1000 mAH = answer in hours)

A lot depends on how low the battery was when it was started to be charged and also its' age. The older a battery gets (the number of times it has been recharged) affects its ability to fully charge and to hold its' charge.

If you were charging it with a PC connection (500 mAH ) then it could potentially take up to 8 hours to fully charge. (4000 mAH divided by 500 mAH = answer in hours)

Do not be tempted to charge using a charger with a higher output voltage and/or current than what is recommended by the a) battery manufacturer and b) device manufacturer, as the battery could overheat and either be damaged or even explode or start a fire.

I have too many chargers to keep straight. How can I tell which charger came with the kindle?

Hi Hi @bval ,

Amazon don't make it easy.

According to this link for > 4th Gen Fire tablets, for North America they provided two types of chargers.

One is +5VDC @1A (or 1000mA) and the other is a fast charger which supplies +5VDC @ 1.8A (or 1800mA)

They also mention a fast charger for International use but do not specify the charging current. Presumably it will also be +5VDC @ 1.8A (1800mA).

I suspect that you probably got the +5VDC @ 1A charger with your tablet. ( charger output should be printed/stamped on the charger)

As long as you don't exceed +5VDC @ 1.8A you should be OK.

Hi @JoAnn Bafaro,

Can you start the tablet without the charger connected?

If so, after you’ve started the tablet check the battery charge level icon in the tablet to see what it indicates. If it shows 100% allow it to discharge (by you using the tablet without the charger connected) to about 75% and then try charging it again and check what happens.

If it continues to give a message saying “one second please” or if you can’t start it anyway as it is new follow the directions in the manufacturer’s warranty statement that came with the tablet as to what to do to make a claim for a manufacturer’s warranty repair, replacement or refund.
