Laptop works without battery, but does not power on with battery

I bought a new battery for this laptop, but it still does not power on. If I take the battery out, and plug the laptop in for power, it works fine. If I put the battery in, and try to power it on, it does not power on. Any ideas on what might be the problem?

I found a issue with the batteries and apparently there is incompatibles with certain batteries. You should call Sony representatives and determine if that battery you got is compatible or not.
