In its first year in production, the Santa Fe was offered with one of two engine and transmission combinations. In North America, a fuel-efficient 2.4 L four-cylinder engine was standard equipment and could be mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe Wont start.

I have a 05 santa fe with the 2.7L engine that won't start. I bought it this way. Was told that car died and was towed home. Found that alternator was bad. While they were replacing alternator they sparked the ratchet against the block.

Symptoms: cranks but no start.

Checked fuel pressure. Good. (Also tried a little starting fluid still no go)

Noid light tested injectors: good

Spark tested the coil pack. Good.

Tested all relays and fuses. Good.

Pulled ecu to check for moistened or shorts .. No noticeable signs.

Pulled the top cover of timing belt loose to verify belt didn't snap.

Next thinking about pulling all covers to check timing marks...

Any other suggestions?

@alfie One more thing you may want to check is there akey icon on the dashwhen your trying to start the car its usually a car with a key in the middle it will be yellow . One of the things that happen when a car is shorted is the chip in the key can loose it programing . If the icon is not showing on the dash then the chip in the key is done and will need to be reprogrammed . Sometimes turning the key on and off enough times will cause the light to show up and when it does the car will start. Hope this helps

This should show up as a error code also I believe.

@lpfaff1 I never got a code when I had it happen in my Santa fe . It stumped me for a while it was actually my wife that noticed the lack of the key light . we drove it for a few months by turning the key back and forth till the light came on and it would start ,ended up having the key recoded at the dealers in your home town over on Lorne Ave

@jimfixer , crazy! for that info. you get a check!

Sounds good although 2005 does not have transponder key in the U.S. model. 2005 Canadian model does come with transponder key. So U.S. model does not have key light or transponder Key! maybe other years but not 2005

Mine cranks faster than normal but won’t start. I supposed the timing belt was broke. I pulled the covers back as much as I could and the timing belt is still on there. Any ideas?? 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7

@alfie ,ALFRED, If vehicle ran fine right up to the time of sparking battery, chances are the ECU may have taken a hit and will have to be tested and evaluated by a qualified technician with proper equipment. If able to hook up a code reader/scanner and check for error codes as a first step. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

@bugalu , Fernando Hodge, It sounds like you may have a bad sensor and when you undo the battery you are resetting it temporarily. Instead of just guessing have the Hyundai Santa Fe checked for engine error codes to possibly pin point the issue. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts, etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

04 Hyundai Santa fe! Starter gets oil on it and won't get connections to re start until hours later! What can I do

tarafından

Specialist told us cannot be hooked up to find error codes because if car cannot start it won’t read a problem.

tarafından

@robert291 that isn't right... you don't have to actually start the car... you just have to turn the key on...

My car won't start.

But if I loose both battery cables and leave them without connecting at the battery for some hours (+/- 4 hours) and reconnect them the car will start.

Hyundai santa Fe limited 05, won’t start.

Needed ignition switch replacement so I bought a new switch, put it in, still nothing. The lights on the dash come on and my head/tail lights come on but when trying to crank the car over, the lights get dim. Tried putting different battery in and still no start..
