Check your drill vents to see if there is anything stuck in them. If there is, clear it out before turning it back on. If not, it's probably your carbon brushes wearing out. Check the vents to see if there are sparks when you turn the drill on. Sparks means you're good, no sparks means the brushes need to be replaced. Why are sparks a good sign?

@Katy Lee

Most drills use a brushed direct-current motor to convert electrical energy to rotate the drill bit. The brushes produce sparks from the electromagnetic charge which are clearly visible inside your drill. Sparks around the motor that are consistent are completely normal and will occur when your drill is running at any speed.

Kevin, as Katie was suggesting could be caused by dirt/dust in drill, if you have access to compressed air and blow gun, blow air through the rear air vent louvers to blow out dust and debris and try drill.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

This is what fixed mine. It was essentially brand new / barely used, but sat for a decade. Shot a little WD40 through the vent holes, into the back of the motor. Took it outside and worked it forward and backward. After it burned off the WD40 it began running perfectly.
