display on water damaged MacBook

I spilled water on my laptop's keyboard and tried the usual, power down, take the battery out and let it dry. I tried powering it back up and it doesn't do much at all. A friend has the same model but with a broken screen and I was considering installing my display in their MBP, how can i test if the LCD is functional? thanks :)
