I have a Dell 3520 that the screen was cracked ,I replaced it and it is distorted. Using an external monitor works fine. Do you think I need to try another screen or something else.

Try disconnecting the video flex cable from the motherboard video cable connector and gently (stress gently) clean the connecting end of the cable (both sides if double sided contact strips) using a Q-Tip lightly moistened with Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+. Ensure there is no cotton 'lint' from the Q-Tip left on anywhere when finished. (Shouldn't happen if the Q-Tip was moist)
Allow to dry thoroughly, (won't take long as it's alcohol), reconnect and see if it has resolved the problem.
If not you may also wish to do the screen end of the cable the same way.
If still no good it might be a problem with the screen. The only way to prove this is to try another one.
Do this with the battery removed of course.
