My SONY 40" LED TV has no picture but has sound?

Hello. Please help me with this.

My SONY LED TV has no picture but it has sound. There's no SONY logo during startup but there's an obvious very dim light. I have tried powercycle but no go. I've tried using flashlight to check for any picture on the screen but seems like I cannot see any. I did not open the back yet to check for the ribbons and pins.

What could possibly be the problem and the fix?

Thanks so much.

A pleasant day.

Here are pictures of the boards when I opened the back panel.

SONY LED TV

Model: KLV - 40R352C

I've tried reseating all the possible cables that I can see but still the issue persist.

Would you recommend using another power adapter with higher AMP rating?

Need more help.

@julzryu a higher amp power adapter will not make a difference.

@julzryu the very first thing you need to let us know is if the LED indicator is flashing red. If so, count how many times it flashes and let us know. If the LED indicator flashes red, reset the TV by disconnecting the AC power cord from the TV for two minutes, then turn on the TV.

Then start with the basics by checking the items as follows:

No picture (screen is dark) and no sound

 Check the antenna (aerial)/cable connection.

 Connect the TV to the AC power outlet (mains socket), and press / on the TV or remote control.

No picture or no menu information from equipment connected to the video input jack appears on the screen

 Press to display the connected equipment list, then select the desired input.

 Check the connection between

If that does nt work you need to check your power board and/or your mainboard. You also want to check the T-con board. First thing there is to check the fuse. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. For that use this guide Adding images to an existing question so we can see what you see.

Update (09/11/2017)

If you do already have it apart, check a few things according to the SM

First thing I would do and check is the connection from the board to the LCD. Not exactly sure where that would be on this model but it should be fairly simple to trace. Try reseating the cable as well. If it still does not work you probably have a issue with 1 of three things : LCD power / Image signal and or processing from the logic board / or a bad LCD panel.

Hi,

I have KDL-50800c. I was facing problem of vertical lines all over the screen. one youtube video showed same problem for same model and solution was replace T-con. Now i have replace with new T-con but after that i can see only LED white light and bit flash on my screen.Same problem as described in the forum.

I thought problem is with new t-con. so i tried with old T-con but it is also start giving me same problem. I am not sure, placing new T-con cause some other problem in TV.

I will appreciate for the answer

More than likely to be faulty LEDs. Trouble is they are deep inside the unit and need to know where what is.

Our Sony Bravia started flickering in the top third of the screen, then went black within minutes. Sound stayed on.

After unplugging power cords, checking connections, cycling unit, Still no change. At start up, Sony logo comes up then quickly goes black.

Having researched the web, suggestion was to use a flashlight on the screen at an angle to see if faint images could be seen. Found images were present. So further search revealed three faulty LED ribbons. Carefully removing chassis from screen, reveals the 3 led ribbons. I removed them and bench tested to find 5 LEds were faulty, at least one on each strip. Waiting for new replacements from Hong Kong to arrive. Hope this solves the problem.

Yes the LED backlight is faulty. Great care must be taken not to damage screen etc. Vince.

This is the final thing I did to my Sony xbr-55x900e, and it worked. 4 blinking RED lights main problem

The t-shooting chart above and just about all the stuff you read is total junk. (they got it right out of the maintenance book...which is easily obtained online).

The Youtube video showing a soldered wire on the 3rd or 4th pin of the LD board got rid of the 4 blinking lights.

THE last Solution that worked for me as seen on badcaps forum: (and, after the blinking lights, maybe, try this first)

Re: Sony Bravia XBR-65x900e Test pattern

Dudes! I feel so smart. One of the LVDS cables had a tiny bit of wear it looked like to me. I took a razor and sliced a few mm off, cleaned the ends, and voila It works. Wooooo buddy.

@deandrover I am a bit baffled why you would come here and make inflammatory statements like "t-shooting chart above and just about all the stuff you read is total junk" Yes, of course they are out of the manual. That is what helps others. It's referred to as information sharing. It's no different then a Youtube video that does not show a repair but an error bypass. It does not fix a thing. It's the equivalent of disconnecting the Service Engine Soon light on your vehicle. Not much of a repair, is it. BTW did you see anywhere that the OP mentioned a blink code? Anything with 4 blinks? Nope!

Read your own answer. Could anybody repair the error with what you wrote? Nope. It's a lot of blah, blah, blah but not a single step the OP could take to REPAIR their TV. To bad that you feel it is okay to belittle other people, while leaving a substandard answer.
