My lg French door refrigerator is showing error code e

nd

Has anyone ever seen this?

It’s not listed on the lg error codes and the technician I spoke to from lg had never heard of this. HELP!

Hi @ab7051 ,

Don't know but was wondering if it actually was an e Ad and the top part of the "A" was missing. Looks better in the link ;-)

tarafından

@jayeff it’s definitely a upper case E on the top (freezer temperature portion) and nd below (refrigerator temperature portion).

Hi @ab7051 ,

What is the model number of your refrigerator?

Did the tech tell how to try and clear the code and it keeps coming back or couldn't it be cleared?

Laura Moreno, do you notice any ice or frost on the back wall of your freezer? You might have to pull out some food ideas to get a good look at the entire back wall. Have you noticed water under your crisper drawers in the fresh food section?

Not in the freezer but there is ice in the back of the fresh food section

Laura more a, The frost build up could be an issue in the defrost circuit. When that happens ice keeps building up and the fan motor that is suppose to blow the cold air into the refrigerator can't cuz it too is covered in ice.

LG suggests replacing the main board along with defrost heater and sensor. The new board has a longer defrost time. I would suggest having a qualified technician diagnosis it. There are other components that can fail and cause similar symptoms.

Is there a way of knowing if you're getting a new board vs. the old board model? I have the same issue. After thawing the fridge out everything is working again, but I'd like to fix the root cause of this issue. Thanks.

Nick amoroso - We you we’re ordering the board most companies will give you the option to buy the rebuilt board. They do have to let you know if it’s a rebuilt board. Same with buying ice makers. A rebuilt ice maker will usually have the letter R at the end of the part number. CoreCentric is a company the rebuilds a lot of boards and ice makers for most manufacturers. If the part came from them it’s probably rebuilt. I hope you still have the box the part came in. So you’ve replaced the board but it didn’t fix the problem? Is the evaporator coils icing up causing the fresh food temp to rise? After you defrosted the unit did it ice up again in about 2 weeks? If so, sounds like a component in the defrost circuit failed. Have you tested the heater, evaporator motor, safety t-stat and the thermistor by checking the resistance of each one?

I haven’t fixed it yet. I have an extended warranty but like to understand the issue before they come to work on it. The sears tech acknowledged this is a known issue starting a couple years ago. I am getting a new board that is a 12th revision that will replace my 2nd revision. I have defrosted and it’s been ok for a couple weeks. I think this was a year in the making starting with occasional fan noise. The hot humid weather just accelerated the ice buildup. Let’s hope the board replacement is the solution. The tech didn’t mention replacing anything else.

@llmoreno it will definitely help if you can tell us what exact model your refrigerator is. LG fault code RF is usually for "Error is Fan Motor Abnormality" The issues could be related to either the Fan Motor or Main Control Board.

There is no error code consisting of a single "e". Double check on that.

Lg model number: LFXS32726s /00

The screen is exactly like this the top says ice type cubed crush , then it says refrigerator: E freezer: rF but when I reconnect it the refrigerator has 37° and freezer 0°

RF is Refrigerator fan. If the back wall has ice/frost than the evaporator coil is frozen over the blades of the evaporator fan motor. Your fan stopped blowing the cold air and the error is due to the fan not working. The repair I recommend for this LG is to replace the fresh food evaporator fan assembly panel. It comes assembled with fan and sensors. part #ADJ7325266

The defrost control Part # ACM73919201- it easily attaches to the evaporator coil and a new control board. part #EBR78940606. You might think this is overkill. I have replaced just the fan motor or just the defrost control, I've even replaced motor and defrost control and usually back with sensor errors or more. If I replace the fan motor, defrost control and sensors, I'm back in a few days with a bad control board. That's my suggested repair. Good luck. I hope I've been some help.

I too have the same issue with my LG refrig. And yes, there is, at least on the frig door, a code E and then rF. I replaced the main control board ($250) and the problem went away for about 2 months. It is now back again. I tried the ole hairdryer solution on the lower vents in the upper frig area and then plugged the unit back in. It lasted for a while. Mine does not make any weird noises

Do you know what happens to the melted ice water when you try to thaw this? I’m worried about it coming out in the floor somewhere behind the unit. Am I missing something obvious?

tarafından

Stephen Krause, the wTer drains into a pan under the refrigerator. It will evaporate quickly due to the condenser fan blowing and heat from compressor.

Hi @Mike LaMedica

Here's the E rF troubleshooting flowchart from the service manual.

Follow the steps to hopefully find out what's wrong. If the fan motor is faulty the part number is EAU61524007. Search online using the part number only, to find suppliers that suit.

My LG refrigerator is not operating and has an error code rF displayed on the front panel. Ausurion has come out several times and replaced the evaporator fan motor, the compressor and several other major components and this error condition continues to persist. I’ve unplugged and replugged the refrigerator and the error condition persists and the unit does not operate. This has been going on for 4 weeks. Can you provide any further insight as go what is causing this problem? Pls advise. Thank you for your time.

When the RF first appeared, you might have noticed some frost on the inside rear panel. If a tempature sensor becomes in cases in ice. It would need to be replace along with the evap. Fan. The defrost heater and thermostat should have had resistance tests done. The replacement compressors will require the.control boards to be updated. There are many components to check when diagnosing this issue. If something was overlooked it might take several techs before the failed component is found.
