Water Damaged iPhone 6 detected by iTunes

Hello my aunt recently dropped her iPhone 6 into water and I've been trying to revive it and retrieve important data from it. At first she described the symptom as the power button continuously recognized and keeps showing slide to power off. Therefore she couldn't backup (attempt to power up simply turns it back on). When I got my hands on it it only shows backlight when attempted to boot and flashlight sometimes flashes. I took the screen off and blew the internals with a fan(not the greatest approach but my crappy tools might have screwed things up even more). Now it doesn't even have a backlight but iTunes still recognize it and tells me to allow access(no backup either). Does that mean my board is not completely dead and do I still have a chance to revive it? Thanks

If your aunt really cares about retrieving the data, then you should get her phone to a professional asap. The problem with water damage is that it attacks the circuits, even if you can't see anything. You're fortunate in that the phone mostly works and if, as Daniel suggests, it is only a backlight filter (or screen), you could save this phone with minimal investment.

However, if the logic board is not decontaminated properly, the corrosion will continue to eat away and you may end up with a completely dead phone sooner than you think.

Thanks for the suggestion! However should I take it to a repair shop or to Apple? Will Apple be willing to help recover data or they gonna simply charge me for a refurbished phone?

better taking it to a repair shop that deals in logic board repair

Yeah, like Daniel said...Apple will not help you at all when it comes to data.

yes its not dead if its recognised by itunes, but you will need to check for corrosion, if you took the screen off and replaced with the battery connected chances are you have blown a backlight chip on the board
