Does a new replacement iFixit LCD ship with a protective film cover that can be removed during installation? Age. The eyes are the first to go ;-)

In general, yes; all replacement LCD's will be covered by a protective film. Some are "perfect fit" so they're hard to see. Take a look with a magnifying lens...that's what I have to do every day ;>).
