Trackpad and Keyboard ghosting

Block Image

Since some days my MacBook Air 13 Inch Late 2010 has a problem.

Both the Trackpad and the Keyboard do some entries without typing or clicking anything.

Its like somebody types on my keyboard or uses my trackpad without any physical input.

I wonder if the problem is not the keyboard or trackpad itself because both of them started to act weird at the same time.

Is there maybe a cable that could be responsible for this?

Would be glad if someone ever had the same problem and hopefully a solution.

Yours system uses a single cable to send the keyboard & trackpad signals to the logic board. What can happen is the battery swells pressing on it. I would first recommend checking your batteries health using CoconutBattery paste a screenshot of the apps window here for us to review Adding images to an existing question depending on what this shows you’ll likely need a new battery. Another source of problems is the trackpad its self as its the junction point for the cables. a liquid spill can mess up the trackpad or if the liquid gets to the back side mess up both. At this point you’ll need a new trackpad and you may want to replace the cable as well. MacBook Air 13" Late 2010 Trackpad Replacement

It looks OK, you'll need to replace the trackpad & its cable

OK and you are sure that its not only the cable but also the trackpad? How is it possible that also the keyboard acts so weird? :(

OK, Lets think it like this: A cable to B cable to C where A is the keyboard and B is the trackpad and C is the logic board.

So A & B can encounter problems if the cable between B to C is bad. Its also possible A and B can encounter problems if B its self is bad. Does that help in visualizing the issue?

We are replacing the two elements that can effect both the keyboard & trackpad.
