Fix a CPU board
I have 2 Powermac dual processor where one CPU is dead (2.0 and 2.5 Ghz). I heard that this is a common failure from the PowerMac G5.
Did someone tried to repair a G5 CPU board?

If one of the CPU's is dead, and it won't boot, swap the processor's. Aparrently if CPU0 is dead, but CPU1 works, then it won't run, if CPU0 Works, but CPU1 doesn't then it will run as a single CPU machine.

You will need the service disk to run thermal calibration after the swap. Ralph

sorry it cant you need a new cpu board total so just get a mac pro its more cost effective and less work to do maybe sell the g5 on ebay and get a mac pro

Apple is ignoring they produced a bum model with the G5!
This computer cost too much to dump and a life of only 4 - 5 years is very short for a Mac. I have ten going back to the 11C and this is the only one not working!
Why has the Mac community kept so quiet about this disgraceful treatment from APPLE?
