Is it possible to fix the hinge bar on my MacBook?

My MacBook (purchased in 2006) fell off a shelf and hit the ground. Luckily everything works...except the left side of the screen hinge is loose so if it's not in the right position it will either fall backwards or close itself. I thought it was the left hinge, so I ordered the part from iFIxit (MacBook Core Duo Left Hinge Mount Replacement), but went to replace it the hinge was still intact. I realized that it's the bar that attaches the left hinge to the right is snapped. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to fix it that is 1)cheap and 2) won't damage my computer.

Also, when I tried to reattach the keyboard, the right side (by the disk drive) would not go all the way down. Is there a trick to getting it to go back in all the way?

One, the optical drive, sometimes when seating the optical drive, the side closest to the screen does not seat all the way down. Reseat it, here's the guide. MacBook Core 2 Duo Optical Drive Replacement

I tore down a MacBook to solve this one. In the first photo you can see the bracket that the hinges mount to. The second picture shows the complete bracket. There is a small piece of plastic that pulls straight up (horizontally) from the display housing. I have not seen anyone who sells this part separately as it is part of the display. You would have to negotiate with someone who was willing to let it go. Click on my icon if you can't find it.

Thank you! I looked on ebay and found the whole hinge set, that includes both right and left hinges, as well the bars they are connected to and the L-shaped pieces that are connected and fit behind the bezel. Have you seen a guide to replace it, and do you know if it's possible just to replace the one piece rather than taking off the hinge, bezel, etc. just for the one part? I've seen someone take off their bezel and hinge and besides being difficult to get off it was a little difficult to get back on as well.

Yes you can take off just one. I've never seen a guide but this guide will get up 90% of the way: MacBook Core 2 Duo Display Replacement
