Hi @mickbelanger ,

Try using a digital camera or the camera in a mobile phone to test if the remote is working OK.

Point the end of the remote you usually point to the TV at the lens of the camera and while looking at the remote though the LCD screen of the camera (or phone) press any button on the remote.

You should see a flashing light at the end of the remote.

If you don’t see anything, try another known working remote control unit and see if you can see the light flashing when you press a button to prove that you are doing it correctly.

If you still can’t see any lights flashing when you press any button on the remote and as you have changed the batteries the remote is faulty and needs to be opened and the problem diagnosed. Although unless it is an obvious fault, loose IR diode for example, it is usually easier to just replace the remote. Search on places such as Ebay etc.

If you can see a light on the TV remote, try pressing the Power button, the channel up/down and the Volume up/down button to see if they work. These are usually the most used buttons on a remote control and the button contact surfaces can be worn away, resulting in it not working for these functions.

If all the buttons work OK check that there is nothing in front of the IR receiver “window” in the TV. Here’s an image showing the location of the IR receiver for your TV .

If the remote works and there is nothing blocking the IR receiver “window” in the TV there may be a problem with the IR receiver board in the TV.
